About the talk:

IT power supplies are an integral component in the electrical power chain of any enterprise having even small compute spaces.  These power supplies though critical, often are taken for granted.  However, they introduce a variety of issues that need to be addressed including: power quality, reliability, efficiency, redundancy, heat dissipation, electrical conversion, and are now even an intricate component of IT “Software Defined Infrastructure”.  Optimizing their use can be a key differentiator in a successful data center.  Over the last few years they have become more efficient, reliable, very flexible in configuration and visible both to the power chain and IT infrastructure.  Mr. Arduini will discuss advances in power supplies for state of the art compute and data centers.

About the Speakers:

Douglas Arduini is the Technical Leader, Power Engineer at Cisco Systems and well known authority in power systems.  His responsibilities include Front End Power (FEP) and high reliability power system architecture, power distribution systems, product development engineering management, qualification, testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, problem solving, and new technology development.   He is also founder and former principal of Arduini Design and Development and was a Power Engineering Consultant for Tandem Computers.

Tony O’Brien is Engineering Manager, Power systems at Cisco and is responsible for Power Systems across multiple business units.  He has been at Cisco since 2005 and was previously Director of Applications and Marketing for Power products at Micrel Semiconductor.

Both Douglas and Tony have extensive experience in high reliability power systems and power supply designs with project management, product development, new technology development, patent development, technical papers and proposals.

We look forward to having you join us.

One Response to May 18: Advances in Data Center Power Supplies

  1. Steve Jordan, Chairman says:

SCV PES/IAS update and new venue for May 18
We are holding our first event at a new venue courtesy of ON Semiconductor in Santa Clara, off Central Expressway, on May 18, by Doug Arduini of Cisco Systems. https://goo.gl/maps/VW391yVzrQN2
We hope to hold more events there in the future, and may alternate with the Biltmore to allow the occasional sit down dinner or accommodate conflicts at ON.
